Clayton National has become a forefront leader in providing the necessary criteria to meet the requirements of nuclear construction on all facets including environmental, monetary, political, and regulatory. Clayton National has remained current with the requirements of the nuclear construction sector since active involvement in the 1970 era. The scope of work provided to nuclear facilities includes fireproofing of structural steel, fire stopping and electrical circuit protection.

Clayton National's Quality Assurance Program (QAP) is designed to meet the 18 criteria of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B/NQA-1a-1995 for safety-related construction. THESE PROGRAMS ARE OPERATIONAL AND HAVE BEEN AUDITED AND EFFECTIVELY IMPLEMENTED. CLAYTON NATIONAL IS THE FIRST AND ONLY FIREPROOFING CONTRACTOR IN THE USA TO HAVE DEVELOPED AND OPERATE WITH THESE NUCLEAR PROGRAMS.

Since 2002 Clayton has been onsite at the Hanford Site in Washington State, providing the fire resistive scope of work for the Nuclear Waste Treatment Plant (WTP). This plant, when completed, will vitrify some 53 million gallons of nuclear waste. The project is being constructed under DOE 0 414C.

In 2008, Clayton was contracted to provide the fire resistive systems in accordance with the requirements for NQA-1a 1995 and 10 CFR 50 Appendix B at Urenco USA in New Mexico. The Urenco USA Facility will provide a sustainable source of low enriched uranium thereby substantially reducing US reliance on the global nuclear fuel marketplace.
